Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
Hi, welcome to MrExcel

I am sorry but I did not understand your question..what do you want to accomplish ?

1) Count only the numbers in a column which also contains text ?
2) You need a formula to count the numbers in a column ?
3) You want to count the numbers based on a criteria ?

No, you are still unclear or maybe I am a bit dumb to understand your question.

well, is this how your data looks like and is it that you want to count the numbers in the same cell ?
Book1
ABCD
14,10,12,164
215,22
311
Sheet1

EDIT:
and I want to count position only figure

You want to count the numbers or do you want to return the position of the numbers in the cell ?

If A1 houses the string 4, 10, 12, 16, then...

B1:

=LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,",",""))+1
