I have used Conditional Formatting to highlight several cells in a worksheet.

I want to be able to count the number of the highlighted cells in each row.
If the number of the Highlighted cells is greater than a number, say 2, then I want to use Conditional Formatting to highlight the entire row.

I think I know how to highligh the entire row, but have not figured out how to count the number of highighted cells in the row. To be counted do the cells have to be the exact same color - mine are not?

FYI - know nothing about use VBA - hope this can be done using straight Excel 2007

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().

You should be able to use the same logic that was used to apply the cf to count how many cells meet that condition.

You haven't provided any details so I can't make a specific suggestion.

Tell us what the cf rule is and where the data is located.

I have several columns of data - I have different criteria for highlighting cells in each column.
Now I want to highlight the entire row if the row has mre that two highlighted items
How do I count the number of Highlighted cells in each row?

Tell us where this data is located and tell us what the cf rule(s) are used to highlight the cells.

Data is located in various columns of an Excel 207 sheet..
The rule used to highlight the cells in the column will vary by column - some use Greater Than others Use less than - some compare data to an intergral number and others to a percent and others compare a cell in one column to a cell in another column.

FYI - every highlighted cells is othside an established Guidelline and I want to be able to highlight the entire row when more tha 2 cells in a row are highlughted.

You have to be specific!

Saying: "Data is located in various columns" is not specific!

Same thing with the rules. Be specific.

The data is not the same in every spreadsheet I would use this function.
I will give you an example and hopefully I will be able to learn what I need from your response.

In column D the data is X.XX and the condition is greater than 3.5
In column E the data is 0.XX and the condition is less than .5
In column F the data is XX.X% and the condition is greater than the XX.X in Column H (in this I use a new forumal and enter it),

In each condition I have used a different color to highlight the cell so I know by color what guideline has been done violated.

OK, as the rule you would do something like this:

=($D2>3.5)+($E2<0.5)+($F2>$H2)>=2

Make that the first condition so it has precedence over the individual column formats.
