I have a list of closed dates and I am wanting a count by specific month. The problem is that for January it counts every blank as a record in January.

=SUM(IF(MONTH(tblDashboard[Closed])='R1 Dashboard'!$D$12,1))

I was also trying it this way but cannot tell it which month to choose from.

=COUNTIF(tblDashboard[Closed],"<>"&"")

Any help would be appreciated.

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
One way is to use SUMPRODUCT, i.e.
Excel Formula:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(MONTH(B2:B8)=1),--(B2:B8<>""))
You should be able to change the range with your range reference.

Solution
=COUNTA(A2:A7)Counts the number of nonblank cells in cells A2 through A7.

=COUNTA(A2:A7)Counts the number of nonblank cells in cells A2 through A7.
Except that won't count entries exclusively for the month of January (see originl request).

That worked great! Thank you Joe4!
