Count return of MAX

If the MAX function returns an answer of say 20 but in the range it is refering to there are actually four instances of 20 what do I use to show the answer of 4

=SUM(N(LARGE(rng,ROW(INDIRECT("1:"&COUNT(rng))))=MAX(rng)))

I used Dave Patton's formula and it works fine. I will try the others to gain some knowledge of the various functions.
