Count the Number of Times a Word Occurs

My column "C" consists of cells with a lot of information, both alpha/numeric.

Example:
NET/NEW
SWAD = AI - CON
CB 79945627

I am trying to find a way of counting how many cells in the column contain the value of "CON".
Note, if CON appears more than once in a cell I don't want it to be counted numerous times.

=COUNTIF(C1:C3,"*CON*")
