Hello Guys,

While I was working on my scription, I needed to count the occurance of "1)"
Excel finds it really hard to do this, I believe.

This is a little piece of my data:

So, I want to filter out, how many ,1) or 1)'s there are, how many 2)'s etc.

Is this actually possible?

Many thanks beforehand

### Excel Facts

Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)

Maybe with COUNTIF?

e/g/

=COUNTIF(A1:J6,",1)")

Probably need to add a wildcard in there..

=COUNTIF(A1:J6,"*,1)")

Holymoly, it worked. Had to edit a bit to

=COUNTIF((A1:J6); "*,1)")

Thankyou so, so much guys!

Hi Richard

Do you really need to enclose the reference in parentheses?

=COUNTIF((A1:J6); "*,1)")

Try deleting those parentheses.
