How do I get around this?

I have a list of alpha-numeric items in column A:

WR65
AI12
1FMC
45RT
" "
" "

These alpha-number items are pulled from other tabs within the workbook using the formula below:
Code:
=IF(ISBLANK(My!B12)=TRUE,"",My!B12)

There are times when the formula brings up BLANK values.

I'm trying to count the number of items in column A, but when I use CountA(A1:A6), I get 6 instead of 4.
