Countif and offsetting

Hi,

I would like to place the letter P in a cell if the count of that cell and the preceding cells is less then of equal to the number in a different cell. I would like this to continue down the row until the cell containing the P is the same number as the different cell (see below). I have tried to use an if and countif formula.

Try =IF(COUNT(A$3:A3)<=$B$1,"P","") in B3 and copy to B4 to B10
