Hi All,

I have searched for this but can't find any thing. Is it possible to do a Countif function against the fill colour of a cell ie =countif(A1,Red fill colour)

Many Thanks in advance

Jon.

**EDIT** sorry, I did not click your second link... that look like just what I need Thank you

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Thankyou for that, The reason I say a countif function is that once I can determine the colour of each cell i wish to use a datafilter to filter off each clour and add a comment in the righthand cell to the filled cell. is there any onther advice you can give

Thanks again
Jon

Basically, what those links do is create a kind of "CountIf" function that work based on color. So it would work like any other Excel function.

So if you imagine that you could do what you want with a CountIf function (if it did color), you should be able to do it with the User Defined Functions in the links provided.
