Countif help

[Bourgeois]

Hi,

I am having trouble with this particular formula, I am not too sure, as it does work on another area of my spreadsheet.

Criteria,

A B
1 Health Dental
2
3 F S
4 SpEx SpEx
5 S S
6 F F
7 F F

=countif(A3:A7,"f")
=countif(A3:A7,"s")

because i have the SpEx in there it is not working. If I take it out the formula works just fine? Is there a way around this?

Ask it to count spex ?

I have tried that but both the formulas are in different cells, so it will count the SpEx, but it is still not pickup up the "S"

Do Countif(Range,"S")+Countif(Range"Spex") this will in effect give you all the S's

will it not also give me the SpEx as well?

Yes it will, but I thought that was what you wanted. Or do you want just "s"

I just want the "s" and I would like to exclude the SpEx.

Could it be that your example shows the F, S and Spex in column B but your formula is column A ?

I've tried it in a workbook and countif will count just F, Just s or just spex. I don't understand why your's doesn't work ?
