COUNTIF in range with a KNOWN start cell and an UNKNOWN end cell

Hello every one...
This happens to be my 1st Post hoping to able to get help and offer one if I could.
I'm trying to COUNT ▼ in range of ( known start Column-Row) to ( known end Column and an unknown end Row).

The end Row value I'm trying to use is in a cell that counts the number of rows that have the same criteria.
The formula I'm trying to use:
COUNTIF(E2:E{row value is in E10},"▼")

Your help is highly appreciated...

COUNTIF(E2:INDEX(E:E,E10),"▼")
