Hi

I’m trying to use a countifs statement and I can’t get it to work.

I have a column of teaching subject names and then a column of data showing the date an assignment was issued.

Is there a way that a countifs statement could count the number of occurances of a date but only if the subject is business studies for example?

I can get the countifs to count the date range in the column I just can’t get it to accept it with adding in the condition of the subject range.

Any ideas?

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK

Hi

I tried using this but it comes up with a VALUE error.
I can get it to work for counting the number of courses but i desperately need to find a way to only pick out a certain subject using formula.

=COUNTIFS('COURSES OVERVIEW'!E2:E25,"Business",'COURSES OVERVIEW'!K2:K25,">=1/10/2020",'COURSES OVERVIEW'!K2:K25,"<=31/10/2020")

That formula looks fine.
The only times (I can think of) when you would get a #VALUE! error is if the ranges are not the same size, or the sheet name has been miss-spelt.
