I would like for run a formula which counts all cells with the word UPDATE in it where column A = A
The formula below works for one column

=COUNTIFS(A3:A19,"A",$B$3:$B$19,"UPDATE")

However, i want to do it for the full range - I tried the formula below but just get a #value message

=COUNTIFS(A3:A19,"A",$B$3:$H$19,"UPDATE")

any help appreciated

thanks

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
How about
Excel Formula:
=SUMPRODUCT((A3:A19="A")*($B$3:$H$19="UPDATE"))
