counting cells from multiple columns within a specific date range

Hello All,

As stated above, I'm trying to count several columns of information within a specific date range. So far I have this:

=IF('CODE ISSUES'!A=DATE(2014,1,1),COUNTIF('CODE ISSUES'!J:N,A3))

What I'd like to do is graph information on a monthly basis. Hope this makes sense.

Hi qctech,
a small sample of your data might help, as a table tells more then a thousand words.
But basically what you want is:
-if column A is from jan 1st to jan 31rd, count the amount of cells in columns J-N that are equal to cell A3?
Assuming you use Excel 2007+, I would go for a COUNITFS formula. Something along the lines of: COUNTIFS('CODE ISSUES'!J:N,A3,'CODE ISSUES'!A,">="& DATE(2014,1,1), 'CODE ISSUES'!A, "<"& DATE(2014,2,1))

Hello Koen,

I was finally able to pry the knowledge out of one of our electrical engineers. I'm using a sum array for what I need:

=SUM(
('CODE ISSUES'!$J$6:$N$6000=A4)*('CODE ISSUES'!$A$6:$A$6000>$H$2)*('CODE ISSUES'!$A$6:$A$6000<$H$3))

Where column A is the date entry, columns J through N are the data to be collected, and H2/H3 is the range of the date entries to collect info from.

Sometimes I think electrical guys have way too much time on their hands.
