I'm trying to come up with a formula that allows me to count the number of cells in a range that contain a specific word in a string of text.

For example, I may want to count the number of cells that contain the term "LTC", and in the range of cells there may be an entry like, "New LTC form submitted by John Doe."

Any suggestions are most appreciated.

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Awesome! I never thought of using wildcards! This is perfect ... thank you so much!
