Counting Condition Dropdown?

Hello.

Very basic excel user. I've tried researching the answer to this with no luck. Was hoping someone can perhaps shed some light.

I have 2 columns. Column D10:D100 consist of drop-down text. For example, Apple, Banana, Cherry, Dingo, Eat, Fun. B1:B10 Consists of this same list. What I need is to be able to go through D10:D100, select whichever item from the drop-down. Then, go to B1, and select (for example) Dingo, and then have the cell next to that (C1) count how many times Dingo appears in D10:100. :ROFLMAO:

Yup. I came across that formulation before, but guess I just wasn't understanding it. Thank you very much.
