Hi,
I have a spreadsheet with 5000 rows of data. Each row has a date that an employe tried to come to work in MM/DD/YYYY format. I need to aggregate the data by month. I switched the format to Month which worked for visual purposes in the raw data. When i try to pivot the data however the months are not counting up. I need to know how many times actions are occuring by month not day. The pivot table breaks it out by day leaving me with 5000 rows of data which is where i started. Do I need to covert the days in a different way to count up how many times actions occur by month. Help!

A Pivot Table is by far the way to go. As long as you have no blanks it'll be easy. Highlight the entire field (if you put your mouse just barely above the top cell you'll get a down arrow which will select it all) and then click group, and then month and it will summarize each by month.

You're welcome. You can also move your grouped dates to the "Columns" section and put your employee name in your "Row" section and get a trend for each employee.
