counting occurances

Column A contains Validation List (a,b,...g)
Column B contains Validation List (h,i,...z)

I wish to count the number of times a and h occure in the same row.

ie. Column A Column B
a h
b m
g h
a h
a t

Answer = 2

Any help is much appreciated.

If data range is A1:B4, then

=SUMPRODUCT((A1:A4="a")*(B1:B4="h"))
