Hi Guys,

I've watched Videos and checked out your forums but I'm still not getting the formula to work! The following formula as example won't work in my Excel 2010:

=LEN(A7)-SUBSTITUTE(A7,"e",""))

In cell A7 I've got the Word "Agree"

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.

What exactly do you mean by "won't work" - what happens?

LEN(A7) returns a number. SUBSTITUTE returns a text string. Your formula tries to do a numerical calculation. It's like asking excel to calculate the value for 5 minus "Agr"

Do you happen to use the continental version of excel? If so, replace every comma with semicolon in the formula.

What is the Excel delimiter between arguments in you locale... a comma like VoG and I suggested or a semi-colon? If it is a semi-colon, then try this...

=LEN(A7)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A7;"e";""))
