Hi all ... Searched for a while but didn't find quite what I was looking for.

Is there a formula that returns a count of the occurrences of a specific text within a range of cells? Specifically, I am looking to count the occurrences of commas (".") and, separately, the occurences of the single capital letter "X" within the range of cells D3:BC3. There might be more than one comma in any particular cell.

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Apologies, however, I believe the premise of the questions are near identical.

But, I'll start a new topic.

Cheers
