Counting Values in Column A based on value in Column B

I want to Sum values from Column A based on a specific Value in Column B. In the sample below I would want the total for each name based on values in Column A. For Example, John would = 15 total, Ryan = 7, etc.

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
Yeah, it would pick up all blanks after the data too though.

So you might want something like = SUMIF(B2:B100,"",A1:A100) or whichever row the data starts and stops at.
