I have seen many great examples of counting using sumproduct. Each has counted based on an AND condition. Can sumproduct be used to count based on an OR condition?

Because my workbook will be deployed throughout my office, I'm hesitant to go the add-in route for COUNTDIFF. I will work with it myself to learn how this function works. Thanks for the suggestion Aladin.

I have tried and will use the SUMPRODUCT function as proposed by Domenic:

=SUMPRODUCT(--(COUNTIF(OFFSET($A$1:A8,ROW($A$1:A8)-MIN(ROW($A$1:A8)),0,1),1)>0))

Thanks to everyone for curing my headache!!

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.

The add-in allows itself to be included in the workbook you want to distribute.
