I have a whole column of dates that were imported appearing as ' 1/08/1995 (format dd/mm/yyyy). I woould like to convert them to proper dates so that they can be used in a formula

It would be appreciated if you could assist me

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
Highlight the column (you can only do one at a time) with the dates in it - use Text To Columns - Fixed Width and select Date

This will convert your whole column into proper date format
