I would like to create a stopwatch in excel that begins a count up from 0 until the timer is stopped. I'm guess I will need two buttons to do this and one linked cell. I don't know the code for the timer though, can anyone help me? Thanks in advance for this!!

A quick Google for "Excel Stopwatch" will get you about 2 million hits.
Any number of these will provide the type you need.
I'm sure everyone here has one laying around, but they are a matter of personal preference, as to their type, style and working method.
