I need a macro to create a customer id from 2 cells. One cell has the customer name and the other has the phone number. I want to take the first 4 letters of the customer name and the last 4 numbers of the phone number to create this ID. I also would like to eliminate "The" from the id if possible. I am a newby on these macros.

Can Excel fill bagel flavors?
You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
Welcome to the board

Simple answer would be in say cell C1:
Code:
=LEFT(A1,4) & RIGHT(B1,4)
Can you post an example? I can't tell where "The" comes in to your data

Thanks for the amazingly quick help.

The "The" would be like in The ABC Company.

Also, as in The ABC Company, is there a way to eliminate the space between ABC and Company for the ID?

I saw an ID of ABC 4434. It would be nice to have ABCC4434.
