creating a macro to close excel.

hey im a student and for a project i need to know how to close excel usinga macro and i dont know how to use visual basic can anyone help me?? phil

What have you tried? What is not working? What, if any, error messages are you receiving? Please post the code you have tried.

There are plenty of people on this Board who are willing and able to help, but you must provide enough information to allow others to offer a potential solution.

Hit Alt-F11 to bring up the VBE.
Ht Alt i m (inserts a standard module)
Paste the following in the blank screen.

Sub closeworkbook()
ThisWorkbook.Close
End Sub

Exit the VBE
Back in excel, hit Alt-F8
Run the macro.
