Creating random groups of people

I tried to search for a solution to my problem, but I wasn't sure exactly what to search. So if the answer is already out there, I apologize.

I am organizing business roundtables, where business owners come to meet each other. During any given meeting there can be any number of people, tables, and rounds (where guests change tables to meet each other).

What I need is a way to input the number of people, the number of tables, and the number of rounds and get in return a list for each guest of which table they will visit during each round so they don't see the same people more than once. The column headers would be something like this, with the table number listed in the cells below the rounds.

Guest, Round1, Round2, Round3, Round4, Round5, etc.


Typical attendance is around 100 people and there are usually 10 - 14 tables. So the list would be pretty extensive. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Take a look at how 'duplicate bridge' is played...or accurately how it is organized. It uses the same concept in having pairs moving from table to table competing with each other. Of course, each table in bridge has only 2 pairs so I don't know how well that will work but I'll leave that analysis to you.

Thanks! In researching the duplicate bridge I found out that what I have is a social golfer problem. If anyone has any insight on how to best solve a problem of that nature, I would be very appreciative.
