If I double click on a csv comma separated file is it possible to convert the results into cells without opening csv file from the File > Open command?

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
If you've double clicked, and the file is opened, I would've expected to automatically divide the row data into cells based on the location of the commas, but if it hasn't, select the column the data is in and use

data -> text to columns

Then choose the 'delimited' option in step 1 and tick 'comma' in step 2. Follow the rest of the steps accordingly.

There might be one other thing - does your machine automatically open csv's in excel or do you have to tell it to?

I had to follow the steps you mentioned in your first post.
I wish it would sort them into columns automatically like you say though.

When I double click a csv file it automatically opens in Excel
