Dear All

In cell A1 I have word "Land" only
and then I want it display "Land" in Bold Blue and " Compounding inflation % to use with amounts input below" in bold red font.

Is this possible without Conditional Formatting or macros?

Im trying custom format code below
[Blue]General;[Red] @ " Compounding inflation % to use with amounts input below"

Your help would be greatly appreciated

Kind Regards

Excel Facts

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
I may be missing something but why not simply highlight the "land" and format as required....then highlight the rest of the text and format it differently...

As far as I know, it's not possible. Formatting in Excel typically applies to numbers, not to text.
In your example, it isn't even possible to adjust the color of a part of the text (e.g. "Lan") due to the additional text in the custom format.
You can only apply different formatting when editing all text in the cell itself as Michael suggests. Or by using macros.

Alternatively you might put the different text parts in different cells.

Hi Michael,

I don't want " Compounding inflation % to use with amounts input below" built in format no point typing it. Once I create a summary I only word "Land" Only.

Hi M8,

Can't use macros as boss won't allow it plus can't spilt to different cells too.
