Hi
I formatted a cell using custom format and type code # so I typed 100 and got 100, typed -100 and got -100, typed 0, and got empty cell, typed Hello, and got Hello.
I understand why 100, and -100 but what I do not get why 0 got hidden and why Hello is showing.

I know it is

Positive, Negative, Zero, Text

So when I have code #, I expect excel to show 0 but not Hello,

So why I have a code #, does that mean it is appled to positive and negative and text but not zero?

Thank you.

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
Hi,

Custom formatting a cell using the number symbol ( # ), will show only positive and negative numbers (entered or otherwise result from formula). It does Not affect Text entries or results.
If you use zero ( 0 ) as custom format, it'll show all, but I really don't see the point, as you can just leave it as "General" or "Number"
