I was unable to find an answer on the message board,

I've created a custom list for another purpose, that I would like to keep. The problem I have is that when I create a pivot table that contains any of the values from that custom list, they automatically sort to the top of the pivot table row or column field.
Example: I have a custom list of the last names of U.S. Presidents

I am doing a pivot on street names and number of occurrences of my customers.

All of the customers that live on Jackson, Madison and Washington are sorted above my customers who live on A street, etc.

Is there a way around this, without deleting my custom list?

Thanks in advance.

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Hi. Can you set the field to manual sort? I'm in Excel 2003 and via the field setting, advanced, is an option manual sort. Select that and then go back and sort the field per normal. HTH, Fazza
