Hello Excel specialists,

I have the following content in cells A1 through A[n]

A1: Red rose
A2: A blue sky
A3 The moon is yellow
Etc.

I would like to have this content replaced as follows:

A1: Red rose
B1: A blue sky
C1: The moon is yellow
Etc.

Any solution?

Thank you in advance!

Excel Facts

Difference between two dates
Secret function! Use =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"Y")&" years"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"YM")&" months"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"MD")&" days"
copy the whole A1 to A3 then select A1 and right click then paste special and then on the paste special box tickmark transpose. and it will do the job

Thanks a lot Jamilm!, only when I do so I get a message saying that the selection is not valid and that there are four possible reasons, the first one saying for instance that copy and paste areas cannot overlap unless they are the same size and shape.

it is simple, when you copy it then select B1 and do that paste transpose and once the transpose is done without error simply delete column A and then your data will be moved one column behind and it will be exactly as you want it to be

Thank you again, Jamilm, indeed I found out that it worked when I selected B1 through D1 and then pasted as you suggested with Special Paste and Transpone.

Thanks again!
