I am making a revenue report where I want a green bar to increase as the days count down to the next expected payment. I am trying to create a conditional formatting rule where the data bar increases as the value decreases. Can I base the data bar on the value in a different cell? Or can I use a formula for the data bar? Or can I have the cell display a value based on one formula, but actually contain a different formula?

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
You will have to create a new cell with the value that will drive the data bar.

The formula is

=maxvalue - A1

for whatever the maximum time to next payment can be.
In those cells apply data bar formatting for 0 to maxvalue. Check "Show bar only"

In example my maxvalue is 30.
