Hello - thanks in advance for the help.

How do I convert the following "2019-Q3" which is formatted in excel as "General" to a date format so I can run a pivot table and be able to group by the date?

Thank you

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Hello. This will give you the first day of each quarter as an excel date value. (I have used L1 as the source cell don't ask me why!) -
Code:
=DATEVALUE(("01/"&TEXT(((MID(L1,7,1))-1)*3+1,"00")&"/"&LEFT(L1,4)))
