Hi

If I have one workbook with say an employee data base containing names, salaries, date of employment, etc and say 1000 employees.

And I have another spreadsheet with exactly the same headings.

What is the simplest way to extract say all those employees with the name George (assuming george exists in the database more than once)?

Regards

PS thought of using a pivot, but not so easy.

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
Hi Deano.

What is the simplest way? For me, it is with a query.

And depending on what is required, maybe a parameterised query. The cell with the parameter value could have data validation fed from another query on the source data so that only available names are in the drop down list. Or you could make it a list box on a user form.

Advanced filters are also good. VBA code using arrays is another way. Or VBA code with simple filtering & copying/pasting of visible cells. Etc.
