Data format change

Hi Anyone,

Does any of you have clue what is the cause or the cure of my problem??

Sometimes when I copy data from Acces to Excel, a simple VLOOKUP funtion doesn't return the desired value, but instead I get #N/B.
When I type the value by hand, overwriting the Acces data, the formula works perfectly. What also does the trick is copying the data and use pastespecial options /values & /add marked on.
It seems like the data has a different format, but I really don't have a clue where it comes from.. So.. Anyone please explain..

I work daily with Excel and this is one thing that has boggled my mind since the first time it came across

Excel is seeing the data as text instead of numeric. That's why it returns the error.

yes, but why doesn't this change if I set the properties to regular or numeric??

The properties ? you mean, the format ? when you change the format of a cell, the underlying value doesn't change. The Paste Special method is one of the best ones around...
