Data Sorting Question

Hi All,

I had a quick question on data sorting that I hoped you could help with.

I extract data from a system on a daily basis and copy and paste it into a master spreadsheet, so its one long continuous list of data. However the system I get it from often changes the order and adds columns which puts the data in different orders, but the header names remain the same.

Is there a good technique for importing or appending the data so it pulls through the set columns without too much manual intervention?

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Hi
  1. You can create a power query that appends all files in a particular folder
  2. Copy the downloaded file to that folder
  3. Create steps in Power Query to sort data
Once done than you can just refresh the query when every new files are added
[Warning: at some time when there are too many files, the query might slow down, at that time save the combined file as a base file and delete the source (individual) files]
