Data source authentication

Hello everyone,

I have a scenario where, every day, I have to manually set the Data Source credentials to Windows Authentication in order for my queries to refresh.

I currently have a few queries that connect to two different excel databases (one on SharePoint, and the other on our company's records management system). The issue is that whenever I access my file for the first time following login, I have to go into Data Source Settings and change the credential settings to Windows Authentication (it is always defaulted to Anonymous). For the rest of the time I'm logged in, I can open/close that file as many times as I want and the queries are fine. It's only that initial connection following login.

We use a virtualised desktop infrastructure in our environment which means I'm getting a new virtual session everyday. Whether this has something to do with it or not, I'm unsure.

I was hoping there may be a way to ensure that authentication is set to Windows Authentication all the time instead of resetting every day.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
