Data - Subtotal and macros to add data

I have a subtotalled s/sheet that subtotals column D on changes in column E.
I have a date in column F that I would like to include on the Subtotal Row.
(The s/sheet contains bank paying in details, so Column D is amount, Column E is Pay Slip number and Column F is date - it is possible to have more than one paying in slip on a particular date.)

I hope I am not missing something really obvious in standard Subtotals - but I was think that a macro that stepped down column E finding "Total" then copying offset (-1,1) to offset(0,1) would work. Unfortunately I do not know the code to evaluate the cell (searching for Total).

I have tried Help, but it didn't. I tried a search in the message board but it didn't give any results in 6 minutes of waiting.

Sorry if this is duplicating work.

James
