Data update

I have a large excel sheet that I want to be able to input a serial number and automatically highlight another cell in the row containing that serial number. The serial number will be on column G and the cell I what highlighted will be on column AA. I need to this so I can easlily update the information in the cell located on AA. Is there any way to do this?

• Select column AA
• Select from the menu Format\ Conditional Formatting
  • Condition1:
  • Cell value is equal to S=$G$1
  • Format the background color pattern
  • OK

G1 is the cell you enter the serial number
