I am trying to use list validation for an entire column of data. What I would like is to automatically fill the data validation down the entire column. I tried double (and triple, and quadruple) clicking on the fill handle, but that didn't do anything like it does with formulae. My data validation list is a named range from another sheet. I would also really like it if these could show up alphabetically in case I add another category to the list later on.

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
If I'm following you,

would copying (the cell with the correct data validation settings) and then, selecting the entire target range and then Paste Special (select 'Data Validation') do what you're wanting? HTH

Simply brilliant! Now I have to wade through all of Aladin's smartness on the alphabetical stuff to get that going. Very cool!

OK, of course I would have one more question. The column where the data validation goes has two columns preceding it. Only one column of the two will have data for each row. What I mean is this: If C is the data validation column, A1 or B1 will have data, but never both. Depending on which column has the data entered, I need a different data validation list. I have two lists set up, I just don't know how to make Excel smart enough to know how to pick the right list. :)
