Data validation list refering to tables

Normally, I would create a data validation list by referring to a range or a named range.

However, I've a single column table that I wish to refer to (I'm using Excel 2010). I think table is known as list in Excel 2003.

The table is named as Table1.

I tried to use =Table1 or even =Sheet1!Table1 but to no avail.

Could someone help to shine a light on this? Thanks a lot! :)

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Hi,

Does your column/table have a header?
If so use something like this when naming a range.

=Table1[Header Name Here]

You can name it whatever you like, then refer to that name in Data validation.

I hope that works for you.
