Data Validation - One List - hyperlinked somehow?

Is it possible to create a list in one place instead of on each worksheet? So that when you add in a new item for the list it updates every sheet automatically instead of having to go into every sheet?

Does in need to be in the same workbook or can you link from another workbook.

I am creating my list in AA1:AA10 and then putting this into data Validation: List. But we are updating the lists all the time and fed up of having to go into every single worksheet to update, it would be so much easier if we could have one list for them all.

Highlight your list, then in the name box, which is usually on the upper left under the save icon. It should say AA1 in it after you have highlighted the list you said. Click in there and type a name for the list. When you go to Data/Validation and allow List, Instead of puting the range of cells in there, put the name of the list.

That should do it for you.

So if you named the list "names" you should type =names

Fantastic, that works fab. Is it possible to create the list in a new workbook and link several workbook lists to the master workbook?
