Data Validation / Pulldown Menu question

When you do data validation for a cell, and require it to pull data from a list, is there any way to have the pulldown menu that opens show the original cell format of the cells it is looking at?

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
