Data validation question

Hi to everyone,

I have been given a task at work which with my limited knowledge of Excel is proving to be tiresome.
The task is to create a spreadsheet so that by choosing through drop down lists an office worker would be able to process an order, for example a 3 metre ladder, as opposed to a 8 metre or 12 metre one. The 3 metre ladder is coloured black as opposed to green. And ultimately this 3 metre ladder in black is made from x amount of components.

This is just a simplified example of what threatens to be a large job. I have managed, with data validation and INDIRECT and OFFSET arguments to be able to select the right type of "ladder" but cannot get it to now show what the components are.

I hope that this has been explained sufficiently for a response.

Regards

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
Jim,

Many thanks for the rapid response. I will look at your link now and hopefully this will be put to bed.

Regards

Peter
