Data Validation + vlookup

I have a list of staff groups and their pay points on the scale. I want to create a drop down list and when they select their staff group only the pay points relevant to their group shoud appear in the list.

At present my data is in two sheets. Sheet 1:
STAFFGRP
academic
clerical
manual

Sheet 2
STAFFGRP PAypoint
Academic 1-10
manual 11-20
clerical 21-30

How do i achive this please?

Please explain ... when they select their staff group ... what from? A drop-down? Where ( i.e. cell ref please )?

You also say "only the pay points relevant to their group shoud appear in the list" ... errrm, is this a list in a drop-down somewhere ( where?) ? If this is about dependant drop-downs, have a look at Debra Dalgleish's site:
