Hi, I am trying to create a spreadsheet for numerous users and giving them the option of 7 possible inputs in certain cells using data validation.

To get the 7 different items i understand that i create a table somewhere else within the workbook and define a name for it. (call this table X)

My question is: I do not want to have this table (x) in the workbook.

Can i create 7 different options for them to enter without having to create this second table (x) in the worksheet. Can i enter a data constant in setting up the data validation using ("") or something else.

Excel Facts

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
You can, but there is a limit to the amount of text you can enter if you do it this way. If the options you want to include in the list are rather lengthy, you can hit the limit rather quickly.

Select your cell, go to Data/Validation and select 'list' from the dropdown. Instead of entering a range in the source, enter the text you want in the list, separated by a comma.
Ex: If you enter option1,option2,option3 as the source, you will have those 3 options available in your list.
