Database Function

I have some database functions that treat some inputs logically and others illogically(?). The result is that if I have apple-orange in my data, but I only want to pull apple, the database function will pull apple-orange and apple. Is there an easy way to fix this without changing the data?

Thanks.

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Next Problem

So I've discovered a fix for this but it makes the output table look unattractive. I'm using a Table function with the database function so that I can easily reference items in the first column and do analysis without building out long criteria tables. But in order for this to retrieve exact matches, I had to set it up so that the first column of the table reads
"=apple" instead of "apple."

Is there a way to format this so that I can remove the = and have just "apple" show up on screen.

Thanks.
