Date cell- taking apart

Hello guys, i have the date as such in one cell 9/18/1953, and want to brake into 3 parts...month, day and the year. How can i do that?

Let A2 house a date of interest.

Try...

B2:

=DAY(A2)

C2:

=MONTH(A2)

D2:

=YEAR(A2)
