Hi,

I receive a file with column where the date is in the following format - its not a date format, but text.
<table x:str="" style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 260pt;" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="347"><col style="width: 260pt;" width="347"><tr style="height: 12.75pt;" height="17"> <td style="height: 12.75pt; width: 260pt;" width="347" height="17">Wednesday, November 4, 2009</td> </tr></table>
How do I change it to date format mm/dd/yyyy

Thanks for the help

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.

If your location is such that mm/dd/yyyy is the standard date format then, if your date string is in A1

B1: =DATEVALUE(REPLACE(A1,1,FIND(",",A1),""))
which can be formatted as date
